As stated material was taken from the USS Constitution to make this bookend in 1927.Measuring 6 by 7 inches and fairly heavy made of bronze.This single bookend is in good shape with no bent spokes....One spoke has been made smaller for some unknown reason??...hardly noticeable …. A very nice uncleaned color.Some of these have been dropped over the years and more often than not the spokes can bend or even snap right off!....NEVER TRY TO FIX A BENT SPOKE!!!In the mid 1920s the Constitu...tion went through a major rebuild and there were many items made from salvage materials"wood or bronze" to sell as a way of raising funds for this restoration.The front has listed battle events of the ship that took place during the War Of 1812.This war was not going too well for the United States, but as for the Constitution she could always be counted upon to provide good news for the newspapers during the war.Great item for your bookshelf and or office or for the person who has everything.THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!Sorry for the weak pics...bookend really looks better in person.
