Brand: Gebrunder Kuner | Country/Region of Manufacture: Germany |
with a twirling four man band, a hand carved wooden cuckoo and two different tunes on the music box.
Made by Gebruder Kuner in the mid twentieth century in southern Germany,
it is marked above the dial and on the brass movement.
It is in very nice pre-owned condition with no damage.
It is complete and all parts appear original.
Adjustments have been made to fine tune the coiled go...ng strike,
the cuckoo bird, the bellows and the music box.
There is a lever on the side if you want to turn off the sounds.
Each half hour the gong strikes and the music box alternately plays 'Edelweiss' or 'The Happy Wanderer'
while the hand painted wooden band twirls back and forth with their instruments.
The cuckoo door opens and the bird appears, moving up and down with each gong strike and bellows sequence.
Both bellows papers are intact, in good condition and they play strongly.
The three pine cone weights will run the clock for about 30 hours and it should be re-wound each day.
Measurements are about 14" tall from the roof to the bottom, not including the weights, chains or pendulum.
It is 10 1/2" wide and 7" deep and the dial is 3" across.
Please view all pictures as they are part of the description.
