The body is shaped in four panels with alternating scenic and figural design with a finely engraved gilt embellished top. This little vase is stunning, however, it is missing the lid. Sits on three widely scalloped gilded feet. Marked on the base with an unidentified painted mark. ...Measures about 2 3/4" high, 3 1/2" wide (handle to handle) and 2 3/4" deep. Weighs 5.8 ounces. This nice vase is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws other than missing lid.History: Satsuma is a yellowish earthenware usually decorated with detailed Japanese figures with expressive facial features. This ware was generally created for the export marked of the mid-19th Century to cater to Western markets.
