Offered for your consideration is a beautiful Art Nouveau/jugendstil tile produced by the German manufacturer, Villeroy & Boch Mettlach. The tile measures approximately 5.75 inches square. Marked on the reverse. This tile was photographed for illustration on page 29 in Ken Forster’s book “Tiles & Styles—Jugendstil & Secession: Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts Design in German and Central European Decorative Tiles, 1895-1935, ” 240 pp., copyright 2015....r>FYI -- Ken started collecting Art Nouveau tiles around 1980, traveling to such locations as Germany, Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil, to name a few. After writing his book on University of North Dakota School of Mines (UND) pottery, he decided to write the book referenced above. We highly recommend you read Ken’s book.
Condition: Excellent condition with a light overall crazing. There are a few very small chips to the left side and a tiny one to the upper right corner edge. Please see photographs for additional details.
