I have been going through a number of items after moving and guess what? I came across another genuine, uncirculated Serbian Chetnik Ravna Gora badge, with the number 003619 stamped into the back.This larger Serbian Chetnik badge was made in Italy of an aluminum alloy and awarded to members of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland (JVuO), starting at the end of 1945 until the end of 1946. A smaller version was also made and... had a hat pin attached to the back. These full-size badges were assigned to JVuO members who were then in Allied camps in Italy and Germany, but not to civilians.The triangular design, with an upright sword through the center, a human skull just above the hand guard, and palm and olive branches crossed over the handle, are similar in both sizes. At the bottom of both large and small badges is stamped “РАВНА ГОРА” (“Ravna Gora”). This highland in Serbia is where General Dragoljub “Drazha” Mihailovich formed his Chetnik resistance group. The Serbian Cyrillic letters “ДМ” (“DM”), which stand for the name of Drazha Mihailovich, are also incorporated into the design of the badge.This larger badge, which measures 1-7/16" (37 mm) wide by 2" (50 mm) high, sometimes had the Roman numeral “II” stamped on the blade of the sword for King Peter II (“П, ” the Serbian Cyrillic letter for “P, ” also appears under the crown), and on the reverse always has a number-of-record stamped into the bottom. Each weighs between 4.10 and 4.25 grams.These badges are from the Georgetown, D.C. estate of a gentleman who was a Lieutenant Colonel who served under Mihailovich with the Serbian Chetniks.I will cover the cost of shipping for the badge to anywhere in the world.
