This auction is for this wonderful old stoneware crock jug - an advertising jug for O. Johnson of 13 Exchange St. Providence RI. Oliver Johnson was the oldest wholesale druggist in Rhode Island by 1890. I believe this is a 1 gallon. This is a wonderful cobalt blue design which we believe is attributed to the Norton & Sons Stoneware Company of Worcester Mass. It has a very old chip out of the top rim and a tight hairline crack which is below the chip and only appears to ...run about 4-5" in the center of the jug - otherwise good condition with normal wear for it's age. A great piece of early Rhode Island advertising history. As you can see from the photos these are pre-owned/as is condition -see photos for dimensions and additional condition report.
