Magnificent 19thc Black Forest mahogany carved satyr with shelf over. Dating c.1870.
Excellent attention to detail on this stunning Black Forest carving. The attention to detail and the quality of the carving is quite exceptional. The satyr has horns and pointed ears and a goatie beard. Around the head of the satyr are carved bunches of grapes and vine leaves.
Measures some 8.5" height at back of carving. The shelf has a length of some 6.5" x depth o...f some 4.75".Condition overall is excellent and age commensurate. There is a bit of chipping to two of the vine leaves and he has lost the top of one of his ears. All as per images.
