Magnificent large early 19thc elaborately oak carved panel. C.1840.Excellent attention to carved detail on this panel. Large crest with hand holding a sprig of flowers/berries to the centre of the panel. Flanking this crest are mermen. The mermen are beautifully carved with bare upper torso and acanthus leaf lower body. To either side of the merman are carved acanthus leaf scrolls and flowers. Stunning panel of fine quality and exceptional carved det...ail.Measures some 48.25" X 9.5". Condition is excellent and age commensurate with minor evidence of historic worm. Please see all images..
