Offered for your consideration is a set of three beautiful Art Nouveau tiles forming a stylized bird and grape vine design produced by the Ernest Teichert Meissen Porcelain Factory. Each tile measure approximately 5.75 inches square. Identifing marks on the reverse. These tiles were photographed for illustration on page 45 in Ken Forster’s book “Tiles & Styles—Jugendstil & Secession: Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts Design in German and Central European Deco...rative Tiles, 1895-1935, ” 240 pp., copyright 2015.
FYI -- Ken started collecting Art Nouveau tiles around 1980 traveling to countries such as Germany, Chile, Uruguay, and Brazil, to name a few. After writing his book on University of North Dakota School of Mines (UND) pottery, he decided to write the book referenced above. We highly recommend you read Ken’s book.
