Original Description:
DISSTON No. 7 FINE PITCH RIP SAW, 24" PLATE WITH 7 POINT TOOTH LINE.  I BELIEVE THE MEDALLION PUTS IT AT 1896 TO 1917.
The plate has been cleaned but is still grey with age and has stains and scratches but very little pitting.  The plate is actually quite shiny and slick with no issues that would affect its function. The etch is light but still visible and I have no doubt that all components are original and correct for the saw.  The handle has been re...finished with boiled linseed oil and a light coat of shellac.  The handle has no repairs but there are two very small notches on the front lower edge that could have been a previous owner's ID or maybe not.  I am just guessing at this.  One more handle note: the lamb's tongue is intact.  Overall this saw is in very nice condition.  I suspect It may have been shortened from 26" some time ago but again I am just guessing.  I think it was possible to buy this at the 24" length.  If it was shortened it was done nicely.       This saw would make a nice match to the other No. 7 I have listed right now.No matter how old it is or what it flaws are, this is still a fine working saw that will raise a few eyebrows when seen at your work bench.  It will cut any wood you choose but will be exceptional with medium to harder woods.  It has been freshly jointed, shaped, set and sharpened.  The tooth line is lightly crowned and it has been hand sharpened with 6 degrees of rake, 0 degrees of fleam and 0 degrees of slope.  The plate height is 2 1/2" at the toe and 7 1/4" at the handle.  The plate is taper ground with a thickness of .038” at the tooth line tapered to .028" on top near the toe.  After sharpening I test cut fir and white oak.  It starts easy and cuts fast and clean for both and will stay sharp for a long time if used and cared for properly.
This is an exceptionally good user saw and I hope that itsnew owner will do just that.  There arenot a lot of good old Disstons left out there and they are getting fewer allthe time.  It is my hope that this onefinds its way to a traditional craftsman and gets to fulfill its destiny.
Iam starting the price low so you can be the judge of this saw's value.    Pleaselook at the pictures and read this add completely before bidding. If you feelyou have been misled, I will accept returns within 14 days assuming the item isreturned in the same condition it left in. In such a case I will refund the purchase price and shipping bothways.  I will ship international but the buyer must pay actualshipping and duty costs if applicable.  I do combine shipping whenpractical.  Shipping cost is estimated and varies per the buyer's location. I only charge actual shipping cost.  Please wait for the invoice andthen pay through PayPal. Itry hard to meet eBay rules and regulations in all cases.  If you havequestions please contact me through eBay and I will do my best to answer.  I do leave positive feedback and appreciate the return. Iwill be listing a lot of good saws and other tools as my time allows. Some will be collector grade.  Watch for the duck.  By the way, he does approve of this saw but is not part of the auction.
