HERE IS A VERY FINELY WOVEN AND ...GREAT LOOKING LOOKING NAVAJO TWO GREY HILLS WEAVING / RUG! AN AMAZING LOOKING DISPLAY PIECE WITH A VISUALLY ENGAGING PATTERN - MADE FROM ALL FINE HAND SPUN AND CARDED CHURRO SHEEP'S WOOLS. THIS WEAVING, FROM THE NAVAJO PEOPLE, DATES TO ABOUT 1945 (1940-1950) AND IT IS SPECIFICALLY FROM THE TWO GREY HILLS REGION OF THE NAVAJO RESERVATION. THIS IS A VERY REFINED WEAVING, WOVEN IN THE TRADITIONAL MANNER ON A PRIMITIVE UPRIGHT LOOM. THIS WEAVING IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR AGE AND DISPLAYS BEAUTIFULLY AS IS!
NOTE THE FINE AND TIGHT WEAVE, THIS IS A THIN RUG, AS HIGH QUALITY TWO GREY HILLS RUGS ARE MEANT TO BE (SEE PICS OF SELVAGE BETWEEN FINGERS), YET DENSE AND DURABLE DUE TO THE CHURRO WOOLS USED.
THIS IS A REFINED NAVAJO TWO GREY HILLS REGIONAL WEAVING WHICH DISPLAYS VERY WELL, AN EXCELLENT PIECE OF NATIVE AMERICA TO DISPLAY IN YOUR HOME OR CABIN (SEE ALL PICS).
The size of this textile is approximately 47" X 33", with a hand spun wool warp of about 10, and a hand spun Wool Weft of about 48 (A Super Fine yet durable weaving - hand spun, carded & woven)!!!. A beautifully designed, well constructed piece of Native America! THIS WEAVING IN EXCELLENT CONDITION FOR AGE (Please see all pics!): The wools within this rug are in great condition, still have luster and sheen, and the weaving is structurally sound. There are NO Holes, NO notable stains, NO fraying, NO bug/moth/larve damage (as you can see in the pics). There is some minor wear to the selvage at corners. The Side Selvage Cords, a twist of two, 2-ply beige wool yarns are about 95% intact and present with minor loss near 2 corners and 1 break. The End Selvage Cords are 99% intact and present (minor wear at 2 corners), a braid of two, 2-ply beige wool yarns. The corners are in excellent condition, and all two/four corner ties are present w/no wear, and two are worn due to time/use. Please see ALL PICs and zoom in for description.
