For sale is Toshi Yoshida TheFriendly Garden Series Wood Block Print Pine, Bamboo, Plum Tree. The Friendly Garden Series, 3Prints Complete Set, Wood Block Prints. Produced and Printed in 1980Commissioned by The Franklin Mint, Signed In Japanese With Pencil By The ArtistToshi Yoshida, Son of Hiroshi Yoshida one of the most famous block printersThe Friendly Garden Pine TreeThe Friendly Garden Bamboo TreeThe Friendly Garden Plum TreeThere are some scratches to the frames;these frames incl...ude art grade acrylic rather than glass. This makes the framelight weight and free from the possibility of broken glass.  On the back the paper dust covers on 2 areoriginal with tears from hanging and age, 1 has been replaced to protect theartwork.  There is wire for hangingattached to pictures. Each piece is in overall verygood condition and together makes a beautiful setSize is approx. 30 3/4” H x 15 3/4”W x ¾” deepThe three woodblock prints show the Yoshida familygarden. The left hand woodblock print is titled “Pine Tree of the FriendlyGarden”, the middle print titled “Bamboo Tree of the Friendly Garden” and theright hand print titled “Plum Tree of the Friendly Garden”.  The triptych (aset of three associated artistic works intended to be appreciated together) was produced by Toshi Yoshida (his only one I believe) inthe Yoshida studio and distributed by the Franklin Mint Gallery ca 1980.Interestingly the prints were pencil signed in Japanese as opposed to the usual Toshi Yoshida. The prints were sold in teak frameswith acrylic ‘glass’ and mat boards covered in silk. One common ‘quirk’ withthe triptych to watch for is that the coloring of the bamboo trees can differbetween the left hand (Pine) and middle (Bamboo) prints where-as the coloringof the Pine tree which extends from the left print (Pine) into the middle(Bamboo) is consistent.
