Antique U.S. Civil War M1850 Officers Etched Saber Sword w scabbard $0.99 cent!. Condition is Used. The Pawn Shop I purchased it for $20 from said on the tag that it was a: "Pirate-Type Sword".........so I got them beat... It reminded me of my USMC NCO sword quite a bit. This is an original U.S. Civil War Model 1850 Engraved F...oot Officer's sword is in original nice untouched condition. The 29"-long blade is etched with various decorative motifs & designs... The blade retains its original fosting and there are no maker marks on the ricasso. The brass hand guard and fittings all have a nice even patina and are solid, but are a tad loose. The hand grip has a sharkskin wrapping, and the wire is all intact and in very good condition. The overall length of the sword is 35.5”. The hilt seems to be in good shape, retaining much more of the etching in the brass than most... The blade looks good for its age & I notice that the tip (first 12") seem to have had a lot of fluids on it... Yes it saw action & has some light surface pitting.
