Offered for your consideration is a unique Gil Hibben United Cutlery 2011 Eclipse Bowie. This particular model is the limited gold and damascus edition. The knife was designed by legendary custom knifemaker and Cutlery Hall Of Fame member Gil Hibben, and manufactured by United Cutlery. 2011 was the nineteenth year in the Hibben Annual Fantasy Knife series. This knife is one of only 1, 000 made and it's serial numbered on the reverse ricasso.
The knife has not been use...d, carried, or sharpened and remains in excellent condition with no problems. It has not been buffed or polished and remains original.
This is a beast of a knife with a great look all the way around. The knife is actually more conventional than many of Hibben's fantasy designs, while still being radical enough to set it apart from the crowd. It has a clean, refined appearance with the design remaining both practical and highly functional...although the size is certainly less practical and functional for all but a giant. The thick, sturdy damascus blade displays a dramatic pattern with great grain contrast. The handle is of linen micarta with a deep, concentric grain pattern. The pommel and guard were shaped from solid brass and deeply polished. Both remain very nice with just a bit of scattered light tarnish as shown. The guard has just a side bit of side play, likely due to just some very slight micarta drying over the years. The pommel remains completely solid and tight. The pommel bolt is intact and original with no signs of tightening or past adjustment.
The blade is actually 11-1/2" from the tip to the front edge of the guard and the knife measures 17-1/2" in overall length.This beast weighs in at just under 3 pounds (2 lbs, 15 oz) without the plaque.
The hardwood plaque is the original and remains very nice as well. It has an area with some light dents/indentations, likely from contact with the pommel or pommel bolt as shown. It's free of any cracks, chips, or splits.
