A rare copy of the first edition of 'Anatomical Studies of the Bones and Muscles for the use of Artists' by John Flaxman RA, engraved by Henry Landseer with two additional plates and explanatory notes by William Robertson. 1833 - first edition. 510x310mm. Featuring 21 engraved plates showing various anatomical studies of parts of the body etc.Lacks original boards, and there is some damp-staining, particularly to the frontispiece portrait of Flaxman - as indicated in the illustration -... but even in this plate the damp-staining does not touch the image, and in the case of the rest of the plates, the staining is to the borders and the images appear clear of staining.Despite the condition, this is an extremely rare work and is highly sought after.
