This is a 1935 (twelfth) edition of THE SPELL OF LONDON by H.V. Morton, published by Methuen. This author wrote sketches or vignettes of life in inter-war Britain, this book being restricted to London Life. The book casts its net wide and takes in the lives of rich and poor, men and women, professional and working classes and describes their life, often with lifted quotes which demonstrate the variety in London English at the time. Very distinctive as an editorial style.Book is in good... condition: clean pages, solid binding. Original and only owner's name is written to the front (shown pic 4). Dark blue boards good. Jacket shows price to spine; graphically good with condition to top and bottom edges. Text block is spotted, this does not go onto the pages.Graded 92%
