GOOD to VERY GOOD CONDITION This sale is for an EARLY VICTORIAN LEATHER and hardback edition entitled “Rienzi, ” subtitled “The Last of the Roman Tribunes, ” by Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton, Bart. It was published by Bernh, Tauchnitz Jun, of Leipzig, in 1842 and is the copyright edition, complete in one volume. Lord Lytton - Edward George Bulwer Lytton (1803-1873), the First Baron Lytton, was a popular early Victorian writer, who coined phrases such as "The pen is mi...ghtier than the sword." The book measures 6.3 inches x 4.5 inches and has 492 pages, which are marble flecked to all rims. It is bound in contemporary hardback, a fine binding, with marbled boards, black leather spine and corners, with five raised bands of leather across the spine, and a burgundy leather and gilt title blaze. The book is in good internally neat condition for its age, with minor wear/bumps to the hardback cover (boards solid and secure at the hinges). There are NO inscriptions/book-plates and NO other ink or pencil markings in the book. The binding is very good with no loose or missing pages. There is no dust-jacket.
