Oldfield Howey, The Cat In the Mysteries of Magic and Religion, 1956, Castle Books, New York, hardcover, no statement of printing (1956 is only date; British edition was published back in 1930; dust jacket states "Here is the first American edition of one of the most sought after books on Cats and the Occult", but elsewhere I've seen references to a 1955 printing by another publisher), about 6.25" x 9.25", 253 pages, in complete original dustjacket.
Well-preserv...ed copy of an interesting book with enduring value, jam-packed with esoteric cat information. "The cat has symbolized a host of concepts: good and evil, light and darkness, religion and black magic. This intriguing book traces the history of these fascinating creatures — from vampire and clairvoyant cats to cats in heraldry, as sacrificial objects, and idols of secret sects."

Purchases may be combined for reduced shipping costs--only $1 more for each additional book (or lot of books that were offered as one auction item).
