I am delighted to offer for auction an original DELUXE First Edition / First Printing of the scarce Milne book ' Now We Are Six'. Published in 1927 this Deluxe version differs from the trade first that is usually seen as it has the ornately decorated soft leather binding and was published in much fewer numbers . There were four ...original Pooh books running between 1924-1928 followed on by The Christopher Robin Story Book in 1929. All of the books had a limited number of Deluxe versions published with a limited print run hence the desirability. The stories and characters are still much loved the world over today and this book is the one of the most charming collections of children's poems written. A delight for the collector and worthy of any shelf.
Book Info: Now We Are Six, Methuen, London 1927: DELUXE First Edition / First Printing. The book is bound in the original decorated blue soft leather covers. The deluxe versions were published in much fewer numbers than the trade counterpart so are quite difficult to come by. The binding is good showing a little wear for the age. The spine has sunned/toned with a few chips and bumps etc and there are a few surface scratches which is common with the soft leather. Some general handling wear else quite clean, solid and firm. Internally the book is in very nice condition with clean bright pages throughout. Everything is original and as it should be with the pink pictorial endpapers. One neat owner inscriptions else untoched. All of the outer page edges are bright gilt and this hasnt faded. The book correctly shows one date of 1927 to the verso of the title page with no other prints mentioned which shows this to be the true First Edition / First Printing. Beautifully illustrated throughout by E H Shepard.
A scarce book and a really nice addition for any shelf.
