The volumes (Small Folio) are uniformly bound in half morocco with pebble cloth covered boards, with spines in six compartments with raised bands, gilt lettering pieces to compartments two and three; joints are creased and tender, but not cracked; discolouration to board edges; minor staining and soiling to boards; bumps and scuffs to corners; scuffs to spines, heavier at the raised bands.Inside:
Numerous and various library bookplates, stickers, codes etc to front marble end papers; previous owner's inscription dated 1882 to the front end papers; foxing and brown blemishes in varying degrees to end papers, frontispiece plate and title page to Volume 1, which is also browned from offsetting; otherwise largely clean with just occasional minor foxing and brown blemishes, chiefly to margins.Volume 2 with a half title only stating "In One Volume" which has been crossed through in ink. There are no rips or tears though pages are well thumbed. All pages are tightly held at the gutter.Marble edges. The inner hinges are weak.
The books measures 27 cm x 18.5 cm and weigh 2.430kg without packaging.
