A superb copy of a very elusive title by this popular Victorian novelist and explorer, most famous for her 'A Thousand Miles Up The Nile'. This is the first Tauchnitz edition, not the Hurst first edition of the same year. Two volumes in gorgeous full vellum, very nice ...indeed, clean and sharp all over, gilt spine decoration, red leather gilt title labels. Excellent condition, not rubbed. Inside text is generally clean, light foxing in places throughout. No copies on abe books. Rare and very attractive indeed.
