Butterfield 8 by John O'Hara.Published by Harcourt, Brace and Company, New York, in 1935. First edition, first printing, with "first edition" stated on the copyright page. Author's second novel, following Appointment in Samarra. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD dust jacket. Book is bright and shiny with no sunning and ...very bright, unworn gold titling on the spine, but there are liquid stains along the bottom edges of the covers and along the top three inches of the front fore-edge which appears as a dulling to the shiny cloth. There are also a few scattered small stains across the covers. Lightly bumped bottom rear corner and a hint of bumping to the front corner tips. Otherwise unworn, tight and square with strong, sound hinges. Spotless outer page edges. Nearly flawless interior with just some slight tanning to the endpapers and the slightest touch of creasing to the very tips of the top corners of the last several pages. No previous owner signature or markings. Dust jacket is very bright and very clean with no sun-fading at all to the spine. Some fairly heavy creasing along the top of the front panel and lighter creasing along the other edges. Light wear to the spine ends and corners. Light rubbing along the front spine fold and a few tiny surface abrasions on the front panel. Otherwise excellent. Jacket is protected in an archival mylar cover.
