The set has uniform full light brown leatherbindings with five raised bands an...d gilt decorations to the spines, there arealso title and volume labels to the spines, marbled page ends and endpapers, aninscription to the verso of the front free endpaper of volume one, half titlepages, and an illustrated frontispiece to volume one, pp. xvi, 376, viii, 432, viii, 386. This is a rare three volume set of thiscollection of poems by Shelley at its 1857 printing. I have not been able tolocate a copy of this set in the British Library and only a couple of setselsewhere on the Internet in its original form; I have however located a numberof modern copies based on this 1857 printing.According to an Internet source:“Percy Bysshe Shelley (4 August 1792 – 8July 1822) was one of the major English Romantic poets, who is regarded by someas among the finest lyric and philosophical poets in the English language, andone of the most influential. More specifically, externally they are rubbed and bumped, there is some wear, fading and marks tothe leather, there is some thinning and splitting to the creases of the spinesand across the centres, some wear to the edges, corners and bases of thespines, and some damage and loss to the head of the spines, internally there issome age browning and foxing, and some splitting to the creases of the spinesat the endpapers, otherwise remaining tightly bound. Unpackaged these books weigh 1280g (approx 2lb 13oz), and individually they are 17 x 11 cm(16mo) or approximately 6¾ x 4½ inches in size.
