Here we offer the sixth and final "Authorized" edition of Charles Darwin's classic, On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, published by D. Appleton and Company, New York, in 1899 in two volumes. This is an attractive edition with high quality pulp, wide margins, and a gilted top text block (to keep dust out.)...
Both books have lightly sunned spines, and minor wear to boards. They are each uninscribed with intact endpapers. Very tight and square bindings; very clean, bright and crisp text and fold-out page. Books measure approximately 8 x 5.5-inches, 704 indexed pages in all. Some pages uncut (in those days some books were sold with folded over page edges that the buyer would cut open with a letter opener while reading.)
