Very Good with cloth lightly frayed at corners, lightly soiled and with a pencil mark on the rear. Previous owner name removed from ...front paste down. Top corners of pages bumped, pages show an occasional sporadic stain. In a Very Good dust jacket with publisher's price of $3.95 intact and no ISBN on the rear panel, with fading to the spine, toning, light edge wear and light creasing to the top edge of the front panel. The author's first book for children, preceding his other famous book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This edition preceded the better-known British edition by a full six years, and features color illustrations by Nancy Ekholm Burkert, different from that edition, as well as a subtitle that was later dropped.
