This sale includes one (1) salad or dessert plate - Very Good Vintage Condition, no chips, no cracks or crazing. Some slight scratching on the food surfaces of the plates, hard to see but there. Take note please, these are larger than the bread and butter plates, so I assume for salad or dessert..Not perfect, still very lovely pieces!These are beautiful pieces, and in very good to excellent vintage condition from the 1960's to 1970's. This mid-century modern ...earthenware is from Celtic (Ireland) and has been discontinued. I have many pieces of this pattern (Connemara Celtic Erin Green), including these fabulous salad / dessert plates in very good vintage condition. The pieces are all in dark green (so prevalent in the 60's to 70's and coming back 'round again!), with the rims (in most cases) embossed with a Celtic / Irish / Old World motif of dots and simple repeated patterns. The dishes are very glossy with a definite sheen to them (hard to photograph without reflection), and most have only slight signs of wear to them. Mostly minute scratching where utensils would have abased them, or from where they rubbed other dishes. The embossed pattern allows for a slight variation in color with the green darker in the lower parts of the pattern and lighter on the raised areas, it is a lovely effect. Each piece (I'm speaking of the same kind, ie: dinner plates or salad bowls) is slightly different than the others just from manufacturing inconsistencies. They all have dimples on the backsides where they would be secured during the firing process, and the color application makes for variations of depth of color...darker in some areas than others, all by design, I'm sure.
