Notes
The main differentiator between this version of the red label issue, compared to the other original 1962 versions, is the absence of the 'MADE IN GT. BRITAIN' text under the Parlophone logo on the label. Two other original 1962 red label versions with this text can be seen here and here.
This versions label has the title 'LOVE ME DO' right-aligned with the 'Lennon-McCartney' writing credit below it. It also has a missing parenthesis after the 'Lennon-McCartney' writing credit on the B-side, 'P.S. I LOVE YOU'. Another similarly aligned variant exists which corrects the missing parenthesis.
There is also a variant which has the title 'LOVE ME DO' centred over the 'Lennon-McCartney' writing credit below it. This variant also corrects the missing parenthesis after the B-side writing credit.
A ZT tax code stamped in the runout indicates a pressing made before November 1962 when the code changed to PT.
In January 1963 Parlophone ceased production of its red label design. Consequently original issues of Love Me Do & Please Please Me were the only Beatles singles, released in the '60s in the UK, with these red labels. The red labels included the 45- prefix in the catalogue number, to differentiate from 78 RPM records, even though Parlophone had ceased the production of these by the late '50s.
Certain later reissues, either individually or as part of box sets, exist which reflect the original design but contain noticeable differences.
