Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:17888466 |
Here's a beautiful 1906 Edison Standard Phonograph with its original 14" brass and black horn and its original "C" reproducer.
Condition is excellent, close to mint, and the phonograph still plays beautifully.
Glossy original enamel on the bedplate and prominent original gold detailing along the bedplate's periphery. The Edison signature on the vertical plane of the casting is crisp and clear. The cabinet decal is original, and it's in excellent condition. The cabinet finish is likewise original, and it's in excellent condition throughout.
The mechanism is in excellent condition, both above and below the bedplate. The governor assembly is working perfectly, and the reproducer has a good stylus and good gaskets. The motor is still robust, and the phonograph can easily make it through at least two cylinders with a single winding. The crank is original an in excellent condition.
The original 14" brass and black horn has "PAT'D AUG 22 1905" stamped above the seam and is in good condition, with scattered marks and wear consistent with its age an authenticity. The horn paint is original, as is the lacquer on the bell.
Overall, an outstanding cylinder phonograph in every respect.
I'll include a 2-minuted Edison Gold Moulded record with it so that you can enjoy the phonograph as soon as it arrives.
I've been selling and shipping antique phonographs, antique radios and antique scientific apparatus for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique phonograph from me, you'll receive a phonograph that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a farm tool), and you'll receive a phonograph that includes thorough but easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions, so you won't be left scratching your head, trying to figure out how it works. Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how it works or how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
If you're bidding from overseas, please contact me in advance for a shipping quote so that I can confirm my ability to export the phonograph to your country. That's about it. I will carefully prep everything for shipping and pack everything carefully and properly. I've been shipping fragile antique phonographs and wireless sets for years, and I know how to get them to you safely. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. Paypal okay.
