I bought this about three years ago in fall 2016 for my main listening setup from a seller in Mountain View, CA. It had been restored by a gentleman in Palo Alto, CA, and sports brand new Electro Harmonix tubes in the power stage (four huge tubes at the back) and many replaced discrete electronic components (capacitors, one tube, and some odds and ends: net parts changed/replaced seen in the last picture in the listing). The rest of the tubes in the signal and tuner stages seem to... be a mix of a few Fisher originals, and mostly ones sporting GE logos saying "Made in the the U.S.A". If you need a breakdown, or are interested in specific tubes, ask and I'll pull them out for a look-see and get back to you. The seller who had this serviced told me that the tubes were all matched as necessary and that the person who performed the service used his NoS tubes and such to ensure that there were no weak/mismatched tubes when all was said and done.It is in beautiful clean condition for its age (main pic shows it pulling in a local NPR station in full stereo strength with no antenna from my attic), and has been used very sparingly. With young kids and multiple pets (two cats and a dog), my wife and I believe that this cannot be used in our living room (the tubes run hot and the kids and pets like to chase and play around everything). It is HEAVY. I have saved a lot of packing material and it will go out with all tubes removed and labeled for easy reinstallation. Buyer assumes all responsibility for meticulous reinstallation of tubes, unless I am instructed otherwise and told to ship as-is. In that case, if the tubes are damaged, it is buyer's responsibility to pursue a claim with the shipping carrier. That said, it is a breeze to reinstall the tubes and I will label very very carefully before I disassemble this receiver for shipping. The tuning apparatus is almost sure to slip during shipping as well, and I had to fiddle a bit with the cable to get it to match the readings on the dial. I will tether the cable and hope this will not be a problem for the buyer. No markup on packaging, and any extra amount over the flat $120 charge will be refunded. I will absorb small shipping overages as long as it does not break the bank. In my recent experience shipping a turntable and giant film developing setup, FedEx has turned out to be the best service. Rest assured I will use FedEx/UPS once the sale is complete and I punch in all the details (destination address and package weight+dimensions). Local pickup in a public place OK if payment clears first. I can drive up to 30 miles (1 hour or so) to deliver, again in a public place. This sale is final, and the amplifier will be insured for the full purchase price to ensure damages in transit are covered. Again, buyer assumes all responsibility for installing the tubes correctly and powering up the amp. Unless I screwed up somehow, I will not entertain any requests for a return, but there is always room to accommodate unforeseen circumstances. Let my feedback and sales history put your mind at ease. Please ask all questions before you buy. Requests for other pics welcome, but it is HEAVY to move and it sits in a corner of my attic office -- I only want to move it when it is ready to ship!On Nov-11-19 at 07:19:14 PST, seller added the following information: I received a question re: my pictures and my response is included here: > is the chassis sagging/bent on the bottom - picture 3?
No, my 15-year-old lens has severe distortion at close quarters. Please look at the table top that the receiver rests on -- that is similarly curved in that picture. I added a couple of clean iPhone pics to clarify. The chassis is a sturdy clean piece with no structural integrity issues.
