This is a wonderful original 1853 dated "sewing bird" clamp for holding materials being sewed. The brass bird is embossed PATENTED FEB.15 1853 on front of wings.....the solid brass bird has a spring loaded tail that when you push down on tail the beak opens up to hold whatever it is that needed to be held.....iron screw clamp could be clamped onto a table.....5 1/4"tall x 2 1/2"long.....Excellent shiny nice condition with no damage of any kind. Bird clamp and screw clamp both wor...k like the day it was made. Finest possible example of this 160 year old sewing bird.....
