Royal Doulton, Burslem, made this unusual stonewaremushroom shaped match holder/striker, the match well and underside are finishedin a typical green/brown gloss glaze, with a rough textured striking areaaround the well, the base of the stem has a ribbed design, possibly had asilver collar and base, not sure; it is stamped with a Royal Doulton backstampused from 1922 on the Burslem stoneware with the number 8701. The match holderis in lovely condition with no chips, cracks or restoratio...n, there is the oddvery minute less than 1mm glaze nicks to the ribbing and 1mm one on the well edge [see photos];measures 6.8cm diameter, 5.1 cm high, there is some reflection in the photos on the gloss finish.
