SUPERB GIANT ANTIQUE FRENCH WOODEN COTTON SPOOL REEL c1900 THIEREZ LILLE
This giant antique French wooden cotton spool reel dates from the late 1800s/early 1900s. I have placed a regular sized reel at the side so you can judge the size!! It came from the renowned cotton maker THIEREZ - LILLE and holds saffron coloured thread. The reel is all good and strong, the top and bottom edge labels a little timeworn as they should be at this... age. The reel measures: 14cms high and 9.8cms in diameter. The label stated 12000 yards and it is all still plump and well filled. Perfect for any collection or vieille maison display. All the items in my listings, unless described otherwise, are either vintage or antique. They have all had a 'past' life, a history to tell - and this inevitably affects their condition through use and handling. I do my best to make my descriptions as accurate as possible but please do not bid if you are looking for pristine items; you will not find them in my auctions! However, if you are as passionate as me about beautiful time-worn treasures with a history and full faded grandeur then I hope you will enjoy looking through my treasures as much as I enjoy 'truffling' for the finds. I aim to despatch your parcel within 5 days of receiving your payment. The French postal system can be a little slow at times but is usually reliable. However I cannot be held responsible once I have deposited your parcel at the post office for any subsequent delays which occur whilst the parcel is en route to you.
