1588 pages with extra pages in the back to insert photos.
You can see much of the original gilt on the edges of the pages.
Heavily illustrated, over 1000 illustrations! Some full pages, some small.
It appears to be a study Bible with notes along with the scriptures. The German commentary was done by Otto Defits...ch. In the back is a sort of index for where the illustrations are, for example, "The Happy Mother" is on page 753.
Published by Johann/John Potter & Co., Philadelphia, PA I believe in 1862.
Front cover is completely separated from the rest of the Bible. When it is placed on top of the rest of the Bible, you can't tell unless you look to see. Heavily scuffed on the corners. Bottom clasp is loose, and clasps don't reach to the attachments on the front cover without the cover tilting up at the spine end (see photo). Appears to have once had a large photo taped on first page, but it's gone while the tape remains. The first 20 pages or so were bent at one point and still show the bend. Overall wear typical for old age and use. See photos.
