Rare Early Lenci Felt Winking /Winker Hobo Character Doll 121 Series
Item History & Price
Created by Lenci in the mid 1920’s as part of the #121 character series this great felt character doll was made in the rare “winking” style and is an adorable “hobo” with colorful kerchief that even has a hole in his patched trousers that his shirt tail hangs out of in back.
O...riginally wearing a cap that is now missing, he seems mostly intact and in overall fair to good condition for his age. Measuring 10 and 1/4 inches tall, his clothes are tacked on with thread but he seems to have jointed limbs and he has a turning head. Made of felt and dressed in felt, only his white linen shirt and leather belt are of different materials.
This wonderful barefoot “hobo” doll is currently unmarked but matches exactly marked examples and I believe his missing coat buttons would have originally been marked “Lenci” And or a marked button on the back of his coat would have been marked “Lenci”.
Perfect to add to your collection, this rare find, without a shipping box or packing materials weighs 7 ounces.
