An important instructionleaflet for a James Weir Globe sewing machine from
the 1870s.
I say important, becauseit was at... this time that Weir split up with his Canadian
supplier Charles Raymondand set off to make machines for himself.
The British Member ofParliament sold off the old Raymond machines under the
Globe banner for £2 2s (twopounds two shillings) and on the rear of the instruc-tion sheet advertised hisown version at a considerably higher price with “valuable
patented improvements”.
The four-page pamphletmeasures 5 ½ inches/140mm x 8 ½ inches/210mm.
There’s no paper lossbut a tear along the fold line. (AB23)
