AntiqueHand Embroidered BristolBoard NeedleBook French* Circa 1890 Thiswonderful antique needle book has been skillfullyembroidered. The front has an embroidered pansy andthe words " à moi" (to or for me). The pansy is acombination of appliqué and silk embroidery and the backhas blackwork like designs. Thecovers areperforated paper (calledBristol Boardby theVictorians) and was made especially to be used for items like this. Thelarg...er holes near the spine are for decoration and the rest are anexceptionally fine count (26 holes to the inch) for embroidery. Inside arefinely woven wool page to holdsneedles and it has several very fine needles. There are some small mothholes at the edge of the top wool page and they seem to line up withthe holes in the perf paper. The condition is otherwise outstandingwith no tears, bends or other damage.Itmeasures 2 5/8" by 1 7/8".
