VICTORIAN DERBY SILVER CO QUADRUPLE PLATE FIGURAL WING ANGEL NUDE CARD RECEIVER
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:18559734 |
Up for auction is a Victorian card receiver or centerpiece tray by Derby Silver Company in quadruple plate which dates the receiver to the late 1800's or prior to 1913. The receiver features a winged angel or nude on the rim and a floral center. The winged angel was once gilt and there is still a subtle hint of the gilt remaining. It stands about 9.5 inches tall to the top of the three prong trident. The figure may be Triton, the Greek god of the sea but I cant be sure. Over all the card receiver is in good condition as shown in the pictures. There are no monograms or visible repairs. There is loss of silver plate as shown in the pictures but still a rare Victorian piece.
