c1900 ANTIQUE JAPANESE MEIJI SUMIDA GAWA BLACK POTTERY VASE, SIGNED INOUE RYOSAIDescription:An antique Japanese Sumidagawa vase modelled in high relief with a man on a cliff edge collecting eggs, dating to the late 19th or early 20th Century Meiji (1868-1912) Period.Heavily potted on a deep green (almost black) glazed ground, the body of the vase is thickly glazed to the shoulders with typical flowing flambe glaze, leading up to a squared opening at the top. A ceramic plaque to the rev...erse side identifies this as being by Inoue Ryosai. Dimensions:Height: 17.5 cm or 6 7/8 inchesWidth: 6.3 cm or 2 1/2 inchesUnpackaged weight: 293 grams
Condition:

In good antique condition, without damage or restoration, only age related craquelure to the flambe glaze, and minor wear to the glaze on the red egg basket, and the base of the vase. Please see the images provided which complement this description.
