These 9 sepia portraits were removed from one or more of the Roycrofter's printed books, actually printed in the Roycrofter shops, not reproduced later. They are all sepia toned and of substantial quality. Included is a handsome portrait of Elbert Hubbard himself, created by Lawrence Massonovich. Other portraits in this lot of 9, signed by the artist Gaspard, include Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly (Frankenstein fame), Empress Josephine, Mary Lamb, Madame Guyon, Eli...zabeth Fry, Madame De Stael, Harriet Martineau, and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Each portrait has a facing title sheet naming the person, and all measure aprox. 7 1/2" x 11", and can use a straight trim on the side once held by the spline. The personalities were much in favor and of topical commentary at the time the Roycrofters produced these prints.
