Antique James Weir Chainstitch Handcrank Sewing Machine
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:18629416 |
Footplate is engraved 2 Carlisle Street, Soho square, London.
Thought to be around 1860 in date.
A superb item of quality. Some parts show signs of being hand finished.
The machine itself is around 10 inches long by 5 inches wide. Original wood base is slightly larger.
No wooden lid and wooden handle shows signs of an early repair.
A great item to display in th...e home or shop.
Would make a great Christmas present
Some signs of rubbing but as the photos show this is in excellent condition for its age and retains most of its transfer print decoration so has been well looked after.
The machine cranks over and all levers are free and work well.
But I have no idea how to thread it up and run it as a sewing machine so, to be fair to the buyer, if you want to use it as such its being sold as untested and as shown in the photos. No other parts are available.
