(J 34) For sale here is an extremely rare PRE WW2British RAF Officer’s Mess Dress Uniform Tuxedo Jacket with gold bullion wingsand sleeve stripes. As you know, the Mess Dress was not worn during WW2, but this is a pre war jacket that probably had the 4th stripe added after the war. The jacket is complete with six non functional RAF brassbuttons and a double front closure RAF brass button. The jacket is made oflight blue doeskin wool and has a lightly faded darker satin lapel. E...ach sleevefeatures four gold bullion rank stripes for a group captain. The upper stripeon each arm shows different construction and toning and were probably added aftera promotion. The satin lapels show edge wear and rubbing, but are in fairoverall condition. The left lapel has two loops for a ribbon bar and a goldbullion wool back 2” RAF Pilot’s wing. The jacket does show soiling and wearwith a moth bite on the lower right sleeve and some moth tracking under theleft sleeve. The jacket has two interior breast pockets and is padded in blueand white satin. There is a tag inside the breast pocket that states that thejacket was made by Horne Brothers Limited of London. Unfortunately there are nonames or initials. This is an extremely rare jacket with an amazing set ofwings you will be pleased.Measurements are below for your convenience.
