Exquisite antique 19thc kashmir paisley wool shawl piece/ large fragment. Amazing tones in this piece. Overall it will have a somewhat dominant palette of old deep burnt reds accented with olive & brown though in looking closer there are many lovely colors woven into this piece. Old muted lavender, a bit of coral, cream/ivory etc..The design is sublime, so beautifully done. I acquired this lovely piece from Tarbes, France as Lyonnais (Lyon, France) and may have been French m...ade as there was a French factory that produced these. Basically a form of fine brocaded wool, quite popular in the 19th and still desirable today.
I have 2 large pieces of this which I am selling individually. Each has 2 very nice equal large design elements so could easily make 2 amazing similar pillow fronts for example. Each measures** 32" wide by 26" tall/long ** and each have a lovely border on the bottom and to one side. Both are overall in good order for their age and being wool. One has a small split to the bottom border area. Keep in mind that it is generally inherent of early wool to see some fiber thinning when held to the light. About 1860's or earlier.
The size makes it quite usable in many projects from pillows to table pieces, window elements, clothing, bags etc..I think they look marvelous as framed specimens as well.

I sell antique and vintage fabric. Each textile is different; some possibly used, some unused. I will give you my best assessment. I do not always launder them nor do I know all their history, how they have been stored over time etc.. I have a 30+ year long & extensive knowledge of textiles and gauge age ranges; fiber content etc.. to the best of my ability.
