This is a restored and working verywell Admiral model 5X13N vacuum tube table top AM radio first introduced in1949. This radio receives stations verywell with good clear warm analog vacuum tube sound and volume with no hum usingjust the loop antenna inside the case with no need for an externalantenna. It has been tested for severaldays and should continue to play loud and clear for many, many more years.The case has been repainted theoriginal ivory color with a gold dial. T...he case has no cracks, chips or odors. I have thoroughly washed and buffed the case andit looks remarkable for a 70 year old. The knobs match and are original. The original hardboard back is still in great condition and the originalbottom label shows the location of the tubes. This radio would look nice andretro on a table or shelf and could be used as a daily AM radio.The inside chassis has beenthoroughly cleaned; the volume control de-oxidized for smooth volume changesand all moving controls lubricated. Ihave replaced all old electrolytic and film capacitors in the chassis with newmodern capacitors and have checked all resistors. Brittleor bare wiring has been replaced or re-insulated. The photosunderneath the chassis show the quality and neatness of my electricalwork. All 5 easily found tubes have beentested and questionable tubes have been replaced. The power cord hasbeen replaced with a new 18 gauge white cord with a molded, polarizedplug. The speaker is in greatcondition. The radio has beensuccessfully bench tested for at least 12 hours over several days. The radio size is approximately 6¾”high by 11¼” wide by 5¾” deep and weighs just over 5 pounds.
