This listing is for a rare Ronson Masterpact cigarette case lighter and lady's compact combo. First introduced in 1935 the Masterpact is a modified Mastercase, and it is designed to hold 7 regular sized cigarettes. It was offered in many different designs and finishes, and it is a highly sought after piece for any collection. This particular example is in Ronson's exclusive dureum plate with black enamel on the body, and a beautifully designed compact door. Unfortunately I have to list... the cosmetic condition of this piece as poor, and there is a flaw to list. The flaw is the fuel compartment screw has very worn threads, and it will not back out with a screwdriver. I am able to remove the screw by grabbing it with my fingernails and pulling while I turn it. I find one tiny ding on the back side of the case, in the bottom left corner, but I find no other dents or dings to list. The black enamel on both sides is in poor condition. It suffers from several small chips, and there is quite a bit of severe flaking; a skilled restorer could easily strip this and repaint it. The beautifully decorated compact door has noticeable wear, but it is in much better condition than the rest of the case. The dureum plate on the outside has visible surface wear, but no major flaws. The compact door opens by sliding the button down, and snaps closed securely. The mirror is in good condition, as is the rest of the compact compartment. The cigarette compartment hinge is straight, and the spring loaded door opens automatically with a press of the button on the side. The inside of the case shows use, but it is in good condition. The springs on the cigarette retaining arms have weakened over time, but they still have some tension. The lighter mechanism still operates as designed, but with noticeable age. The flint tube is clear, and with a flint inserted a nice spark is produced. This is a petrol lighter, and it has NOT been filled and tested. Thank you for looking, and for your bid!
