VICTOR VI PHONOGRAPH
Here's a great example of an early Victor tabletop phonograph, made c.1906. Known as "Victor the Sixth". This was Victor's top-of-the-line offering, costing the equivalent of three months wages for the average workingman.....thus most customers were of the wealthy upper class. Overall condition is simply great.
The solid mahogany cabinet measures 16" x 16" x 7.5" high and is fitted with decorative corner posts wit...h gold-plated capitals. Indeed, gold plating was used extensively, on the tone arm, reproducer, crank, etc.
Fitted with a large, nickel-plated 3-spring motor, 12" turntable, and a rebuilt Exhibition reproducer.
The 24" diameter mahogany "spearpoint" horn is original, with patent stamp on the end cap.
Befitting such a showpiece, this has been refinished and replated in the not-too-distant past by a previous owner. It looks like it belongs in a museum or castle.
