Bufflehead are very small, compact ducks with large, rounded heads and short, wide bills. This adult male has a white body, dark black back which depicts a slight hump right before the central tail feathers, and a dark head with a large white patch that wraps around the back of the head. If in flight, the details would show his dark underpants crossed by white stripes at the shoulder and in the flanks which are visible from a distance. The outstanding original paint and ultra-realistic... glass eyes bring this 2-piece body decoy to life, and are key to drawing birds in from afar and attracting them to your rig.This faux waterfowl weighs a tiny bit over 1 pound with approximate measurements of 9 ½” in length, 5 ¼” in height, and 5” in width. Inscribed on the bottom is “Barnegat Bay Decoys, Point Pleasant, New Jersey, 1984, Drake—Bufflehead” (see picture #11), and thus, probably purchased from Frederic "Rick" Brown, Jr.'s factory. Fully functional as intended. Overall cosmetic condition is excellent except for one miniscule gouge (see picture #7). From a non-smoking and pet-free household.
