I’m apart-time antiques dealer, & sometimes exhibit at UK antiques shows. My associate in France is an expatAmerican historian of European Decorative Arts & museum curator, with 45years of advanced experience.  Sincerely, ET Burdett Dear friends &clients: Elly has more FineArts & Antiques than we can begin to keep up with – at least 4, 000period pieces. Group photos will give you a slight ideaof the depth of my collections, and Elly's inventory - 650 new acquisitions, with more arriving almost daily - keep watching this page.EXTREME weather is gettingworse in Europe – my internet router has been replaced 8 times in 7 years, dueto lightning strikes. Delays in communications or shipping are sometimes unavoidable, and I have not been able to begin to keep up with photography – it has beenraining for more than a month.  R. Josef   Mycollections of pottery & stoneware are extensive, & growing - which iswhy we’re selling on eBay – I want more! We have majorly expanded our acquisitions for both personal collections andresale by a large margin; for the past fouryears, we have largely focused on buying. We actively seek early pottery, stoneware, and tin-glazed Westernceramics, all of which I collect, to varying degrees – I’m particularlyinterested in early storage jars used for lamp oil, due to having a veryextensive collection of pre-1780 lamps, mostly French. We rarely part with tin-glazed pieces this early that are of anexceptional nature, but I own other examples already. I havenumerous reference books on French faience, focusingon the 18th century & before, but neither the form nor thedecoration are particular enough to permit a specific attribution, other thanprobably Nevers. The fragility of early tin-glazed pottery, fired at lowtemperatures, is such that few early pilgrim flasks can be found intact – theyare more often cracked & stapled, or have major chunks broken off the necks– but this rare bottle is certainly above average. Pilgrim flasks were additionallysubjected to many years of intensive use – the handles (four, on larger flasks)were to pass cords through, for carrying over the shoulder, or on a saddle. Forthose interested in the motif, multi-rayed ovoid sunbursts are frequently foundon French vessels used in medicinal practices. Similar flasks can be found withthe word BOY; Renaissance French forbois– as in drink, and not wood! As can be seen, and is almost universallythe case, the rim has glaze rubbing, minor roughness & one slightly largerflake; the general surface has a fair amount of wear, but the overall conditionis exceptional – many pieces of early tin or lead-glazed pottery in Europeanmuseum collections are in much worse condition. This is one of many period pieces of Continental Decorativearts we will be offering, including quite a few from private collections - onealone contained 200 lamps – supplemented by summers of non-stop buying on theroad in Western Europe - do keep an eye on Elly’s eBay page/store. Professionalcontact details areavailable from the New EnglandAppraisers Association (look under France, or England).Condition: as-seenand as described, but above average – there are no cracks, repairs orrestoration. There are 4 chips to the foot rim, only one of which is longerthan 1/2" (see photos); there is minor glaze rubbing on the handles, andthe normal amount of surface wear one encounters on early pilgrim flasks. Photosare high resolution – use magnification for viewingdetails. Please ask, if you wish additional photos.© R.
