**11/11/2019 Photos updated - plus more details below**
**11/11/2019 Battery tested - Battery life appears to be very good, especially for it's age - I've tested it this evening and I gave up after an hour and 20 minutes. And the battery still shows 2 out of 4 dots on the side, and just under half full in Mac OS 9 - I tested this by browsing the various websites I could and streaming some music whilst on ...full brightness and over WiFi - although I did found from streaming music it could definitely benefit from the below mentioned RAM upgrade and SSD -  no doubt the latter would improve the battery too**
Finally got round to updating this listing with new photos and description, apologies for the delay.
I'll be sad to see this machine go. I had good intentions of updating it to an SSD hard drive (the SSD caddy is included for free - see photo) and upgrading the ram (these machines go to 1GB) . Sadly I need to clear space, so I am forced to sell.
As well as the fee SSD caddy, I've included an extra PRAM battery, which I am unsure of the condition of (TIP: don't be tempted throw this battery away. Old batteries like this are very useful to keep for vintage machines, especially for the cables/connectors, usually with a bit of skill with a soldering iron and a bit of shrink tubing these can be 'refreshed' with brand new cells).
Overall, I would say, the machine is in very good condition for it's age. It does have a few cosmetic marks and scuffs, which I have tried to show in my photographs, but overall has been treated very carefully during it's life. There are no missing buttons, switches or covers and all operate as expected.
Included:1x Apple PowerBook G3 Pismo1x Battery (installed in left bay)1x DVD/CD-Rom Drive (installed in right bay)1x Grey Laptop Pouch/Satchel1x Apple YoYo charger1x Spare PRAM Battery (unknown conditon)1x SSD Caddy1x Mac OS 9 Installation Disc (not original, but a backup of it)
I use OS 9.2.2 on this machine (from the MacOS9Lives website http://macos9lives.com/smforum/index.php/topic, 2109.0.html), for it's speediness (though you can install OS X 10.4 Tiger - which is officially supported). There is a fantastic wealth of software out there (especially on the Macintosh Repository website https://www.macintoshrepository.org/) , freely available for these machines. From word processing, to CAD/CAM and music production. Also, the uncluttered nature of Mac OS 9 leads to less distractions compared to modern devices!
The keyboard still has a lovely action, with a decent amount of travel and satisfying 'clunk'. I would say it compares favourably with the best ThinkPads (which were known for the quality of their keyboards).
Specs of the machine can be seen in the images.
The machine's highlights are a fully working DVD/CD-Rom Drive, AirPort WiFi card (I set up a temporary unsecured SSID to connect, then filter based on Mac address, or simply use it wired), the battery does hold charge, though I will try and update with how much.
As I mentioned originally in the listing before, the screen starts up with a red tint (see 7th photo), but on full brightness this soon goes white again (2 and 3 show it once warmed up) on full brightness. This is due to the age of the CCFL in the screen (like mini strip lights). The CCFLs can be swapped for LEDs by the brave, but I never saw the point as it's just a minor inconvenience when the screen is starting up, and doesn't seem to have gotten any worse over the years.
Overall, it's a lovely vintage machine with a lot of life still in it!
Previous info:
"This is my beloved Apple Pismo, very reluctantly selling as I simply don't have time to play with it these days and I need to make space. I'll probably regret this decision in years to come! It really is a lovely machine, both attractive and serviceable (something later Macs seemed to forget!)
The machine will be fully wiped, plus copies of install media provided.
It has a few minor marks and scuffs from use, but other than that, and considering it's age, it is in excellent condition.
The screen does start up looking a little red, but soon whitens up in a minute or so. There is a fix for this, but I have never bothered because it's only a very brief inconvenience on startup.
It comes with an AirPort card for wifiDVD driveFirewireThe battery still holds some charge, I'll update the listing with how long this lasts! (roughly)Also comes with the original YoYo charger (a design classic)"
Many thanks for looking and good luck!
