This is an ANTIQUE USS IOWA BB-61 WWII US NAVY BATTLESHIP cigar ashtray. This is a very unique piece of history. I have never seen or found any other like this; possibly one of a kind. Many times these were commissioned by someone on the ship. Iowa is the last lead ship of any class of United States battleships and was the only ship of its class to have served in the Atlantic Ocean during WWII. During WWII this battleship carried President Franklin D Roosevelt. This is a very heav...y piece and I am unsure if it is brass or bronze; it appears brass to me. This ashtray weighs 2 1/2 pounds. This ashtray has the 1 inch rests which would accommodate a cigar. The measurement across from rest to rest is 6 3/8 inches and 5 5/8 across the other way. The ashtray sits about 1 1/4 inches high. The base is approximately 4 inches across. The raised letters are in beautiful condition; not worn at all. They do have some white and green residue around them, but that could be carefully cleaned. I would leave that to the discretion of the buyer. The inside bottom of the ashtray has some dirty spots as well, but really it is quite clean for an ashtray. There are no dents or dings on this piece and no pitting to the inside. Please see all photos for complete details.
