Mike Trout hit a 2 run home run in the 1st inning off starter Aaron Brooks, which was Trout's 12th home run in July, tying an Angels franchise record for most home runs in July. Trout's homer tied the game at 2-2. The Orioles took the lead in the 3rd inning on Severino's homer. But then Shohei Ohtani hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning off Brooks to tie the score 5-5. Jonathan Villar's homer in the top of the 6th put the Orioles back up 6-5, before Pujols hit his 636th career home run to tie the score again in the bottom of the 6th. The Orioles would go up 8-6 in the 8th inning. The Angels rallied in the bottom of the 9th to close the gap to 8-7, and Ohtani was intentionally walked to load the bases, but Justin Upton popped up to 2nd to end the game with the winning run stranded at 2nd base.
It was a classic exciting back and forth game, with drama until the end, featuring home runs from the Angels' big three players, milestone homers, major league history being made, and great drama up until the last out.
This lineup card shows incredible evidence of use. The blue dots next to the players's names in the lineup are where the manager marks the last batter to hit in each inning, to keep track of where in the lineup the team is. The yellow highlights are made over the players' names when the player is removed from the game, and players' names added to the "change" column are the new players substituted into the game for pinch hitting or relief pitching. The resulting used lineup card is a color coded work of art that beautifully shows the evidence of the chess game and cat-and-mouse strategy of the manager. This lineup card played a key role in helping the Orioles manager keep track of the game and plan his strategy that he used to ultimately win a close nerve-grinding see saw battle with the slugging Angels team.
This game used lineup card comes with mlb hologram authentication, and is authenticated as being used in the Baltimore Orioles dugout for the game on July 27, 2019. MLB authentication is the best authentication available, as a member of the mlb authentication team actually witnessed the card hanging in the Orioles dugout before applying the mlb hologram sticker to the card. It is a true 1/1 item, signed by the Orioles manager Brandon Hyde. This is a fantastic piece of major league baseball history, and is a great addition to any collector of Shohei Ohtani, Trout, or Pujols home run items!
